Giving Serious Kits a new life with KitAid

For just over a year, Serious Sport has been working to help support projects such as KitAid. KitAid is a charity that recycles once-loved football kits and distributes them to underprivileged children and adults in some of the world’s poorest countries. Since 1998, over 700,000 individuals, or 40,000 teams from across the developing world, now have access to football kits thanks to KitAid.

In March 2022, through KitAid, we donated our jackets, hoodies, polos & t-shirts to help support those who had been devastated by the outbreak of war in Ukraine. In Addition, we donated some of our match kits to be distributed worldwide. It fills us with immense pride to witness our kits making a positive impact on the lives of boys and girls in schools located in Eastern Sierra Leone and Bulawayo, Zimbabwe.

"The latest delivery boxes have already started the journey to Zimbabwe, Malawi, Ghana and South Africa. Further donations are still to follow.

The kits are used to support football projects but the benefit goes beyond sport. We have a saying “ It’s more than just a shirt….” and it really is. The partner charities use the kit as a way of engaging with communities and this can be to support projects using kit to prevent drug/alcohol abuse, anti social behaviour as well as getting kids back into education.

KitAid is extremely grateful to Serious Sport Group for their ongoing support, especially as this year marks our 25th Anniversary."
